Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) is required by most riders to validate the motorcycle entitlement on their licence (there are some exceptions for people with a full driving licence - depending upon when this was gained. See Licence Categories for further information).
This is normally a one day course, where you are taught the following, in accordance with the DVSA CBT syllabus:
Finally, you will be taken out on the road for a minimum of 2 hours, under the supervision of one of our trained instructors who gives advice and instruction via a radio.
Upon satisfactory completion of the course, you will be awareded a CBT Certificate, which is valid for 2 years.
